can you believe it is already September? i am amazed at how quickly mother nature turns those lazy long summer days into crisp fall days with a flip of the page.
for me, summer ends when the school year begins . yesterday, summer ended as our oldest son began his first day of 1st grade. i watched as the adorable kindergarten kids walked into school, with the look of excitement and nervousness rolled into one. reflecting on last year, i remembered as my five year walked into that first day of school holding onto my hand for dear life. this year, as we turned the corner and saw familiar friends he quickly let go of my hand and stood a bit taller with new found confidence of a first grader. just like those summer days turning into fall, my little boy seemed to change over night.

because these moments float by all too quickly, i have somehow convinced my husband that every fall we update our family photo. (admittedly, it works out pretty well for holiday card planning!) then my kids are guaranteed a yearly photo with their mama. 🙂 in honor of my tradition, and hoping you will make it your new tradition – i’m offering fall mini photo sessions!

the first session, held in the early evening on October 5 at Jones Point Lighthouse in Alexandria provides big trees, a beautiful little white lighthouse and open fields perfect for running toddlers.

the second session, held in the morning on October 27 in downtown Old Town Alexandria, boasts timeless charm and appeal, with beautiful brick buildings and gorgeous waterfront viewing.
