i received the sweetest email from marci – asking me to capture her family before they moved to their new house. she said they just sold the house they currently lived in and wanted to capture her boys playing at the nearby lake. i pictured the duck pond that is near my house – very beautiful but small. i had no idea what i was about to stumble upon.
i couldn’t believe this beautiful lake was inside the DC beltway. and did i mention the beach? i was just a bit smitten and couldn’t believe my photographer good luck.
but this photo session, while a beautiful location, was really about the connection of this family – they were just so down to earth and gracious – that capturing them was effortless, easy and quite memorable.
but most of all, i loved how marci and i led somewhat parallel lives – loving yoga and having two boys at almost the same age. her boys also matched my boys personalities to a “t” – the oldest being serious and thought-provoking, while the youngest – full of energy, excitement and spunkiness.
we ran around the lake for a little bit before going back to their house and capturing their family “as -is” (my favorite kind of session).
at the end of our time together, her oldest decided he was going to take pictures of me. he definitely held a little piece of my heart that night.
while i took these photos longer ago than i like to admit, (still trying to find the balance on photo sessions and blogging), to this day, these photos still hold a special place in my heart. ❤
