probably one of the most exciting things for me to photograph is a maternity photo session, right along with a newborn session.  and while i thought katie might just have little man DURING our photo session (he was moving around like we were at a nightclub), he managed to hang on for almost four weeks later —   i can’t tell you how many nights i checked my phone to see if he was born yet.  finally i got the email one night that said he has arrived and a few days later i was snuggling a four day old newborn.

yes, my job is so difficult.

but before i show you all of his newborn cuteness, look at his mama, big sister and dad, so excited for his arrival.  we did a super fun maternity session in washington, DC (and seriously, i could NOT. STOP.TAKING.PICTURES).  katie is so beautiful, and her husband and daughter are the perfect family together.  i loved getting to know them and talk all about their baby boy about to arrive into this world.

as lovely as maternity sessions are, there is nothing like being invited to to someone’s home to experience all the joy, excitement and sleep deprivation that comes with a newborn.

even though the family was in town (both sets of grandparents) to meet  baby boy, they were also celebrating a very special day – big sister’s #3 birthday.  somehow she contained her excitement to open her presents until after i left.  she might just have more willpower then me.  🙂

but after all the excitement calmed down, it was time for me to celebrate this little guy’s BIRTHday and capture all his newborn sweetness.  see if you can figure out who is more in awe of him – mom, dad or big sister.  its definitely a tough call.

i don’t know though – little lady might be the winner.
