Wedding at the Tallest Rooftop in Washington DC

Filed Under:

Serene + Owen, like many couples, were scheduled to have this amazing big party to celebrate their marriage in September of 2020, but when they realized in early summer it wouldn’t be possible to have all of their family attend, they decided to postpone to 2021 and have a small intimate wedding on the rooftop of the Cairo Building in Washington, DC.

If you aren’t familiar with the Cairo Building, it is the tallest residential building in DC and has a storied past, from a DC Socialite location welcoming the likes of Thomas Edison and F. Scott Fitzgerald, to the downfall of the building in the 60s where prostitutes, squatters and feral dogs lived.

Many transitions led to the eventual revitalization of the building in the 1970s and eventually to its luster of today.

This wedding ceremony made my heart so happy, from the informal impromptu moments to the sentimental vows, music and the joining of Serene’s family on video, all the way from Dubai.

Stay tuned for their epic wedding sure to happen later in 2021!

So should the photos.

Your wedding feels exactly like, well, you.

I’m Kelly Loss, a documentary wedding photographer in Washington D.C. and northern Virginia. For over 12 years, I’ve been photographing couples who want their wedding day to feel less like a photo shoot and more like a celebration.

By asking thoughtful questions, I’m able to capture the same meaningful moments they would have if they were the ones behind the camera.

Hi there, I'm Kelly!
