Eastern Market // Washington, DC
Jill + Mike were married on a beautiful September day in Washington, DC at Eastern Market, a venue that has a lot of personality and unique DC traditions, perfect for a couple that met in DC!
Family was incredibly important to the two of them, with their wedding party made up entirely of family - sisters and brothers and their spouses and children. It was one of my favorite ways to see people pull together a wedding party - a unique twist on this long standing tradition.
Jill + Mike also walked in to their ceremony together - which I absolutely adored - if only I would have thought of this on my wedding day!
Eastern Market has lots of fun nooks and crannies, but we decided to do the first look near their house at Blagden Alley. It was a blast to have them come together at a space that is special to them - and if you’ll notice, my first looks, I always have couples walking towards each other. Why should one of them have their back to each other on the wedding day?
I used to live right near Blagden Alley, but many years ago when it wasn’t as hip and cool as it is now. If you have a chance, explore this area for not only wedding first looks and portraits, but for some unique art and yummy coffee.
The end of the night had awesome dancing and a surprise ice cream truck! The guests were thrilled and in ice cream heaven when the Captain’s Cookie showed up. If you haven’t had one already, you must check them out! I had an awesome day enjoying in this energetic, fun and authentic wedding. Take a peak to see what I mean!
